ARTIST STATEMENT

“My love of art began when I was eight years old. Drawing, painting, and collage opened a world that has never closed — one fueled by passion, relentless energy, and a deep, abiding joy that carries forward to this day.

Over the years I worked in detailed pen and ink, Basquiat-influenced pieces using oil sticks, acrylic paint, and markers, and silkscreen prints rooted in the Warhol era. Sculpture followed naturally, emerging first through drawings of geometric forms and iconic imagery – hearts, peace signs, flags – shapes that carry meaning immediately and universally.

My process for large-scale metal sculpture begins on paper. I draw my forms, circles, squares, rectangles, and send them to my fabricator in Connecticut, where the designs are digitized and cut with precision on a waterjet. Once the metal pieces arrive, I head to the foundry with my welding gloves on and goggles down; this is such a thrilling part of the process for me. The heat, the weight, the moment a shape becomes a thing in the world. Pure joy, every single time.

My printmaking follows a similar logic. Each composition is carefully drawn and developed before moving into the technical production phase, where hand and machine meet to produce original works that are both crafted and precise.
